The 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG) are a special edition for the Quadrennial games as it is the first time womens’ cricket is part of the event. In fact, it is only the second time that cricket is part of the event after men’s cricket was included in the 1998 edition.

Recently, the Indian women’s cricket team were spotted cheering for the men’s hockey team from their hotel rooms. They also travelled to the stadium to support the women’s hockey team and the badminton team during the mixed team final earlier in the week.
The women’s cricket team will take on England in the semi-final on Saturday (August 6). Hampreet & Co. made a strong comeback after losing their opening game to Australia by a heartbreaking margin of three-wickets. The 2020 T20 World Cup runners up beat arch-rivals Pakistan by nine wickets and followed it up with a massive 100-run win over minnows Barbados.
On the same day, the men’s hockey team will face South Africa in the semi-final. The Tokyo Olympics bronze medalists are looking to win their first gold medal in the history of the commonwealth games. They won three and drew one game in the group stage.
